Hi, I’m Abby! I grew up in Portage, Michigan, with my parents and siblings, and from a young age I’ve always been drawn to helping others. I love connecting with people, hearing their stories, and being someone they can feel comfortable opening up to. In 2018, I married my high school prom date and moved to Tennessee while he served in the military. During that time, I worked a variety of customer-focused jobs—from a local coffee shop to retail at Forever 21 and Target—which all reinforced how much I enjoy working with people and creating positive experiences.
After welcoming my daughter, Violet, I spent a few years focused on family and building meaningful connections at home. Once she started school, I decided to pursue cosmetology with the goal of helping people feel confident and beautiful through their hair. As I neared graduation, I discovered Alder and had the opportunity to shadow their team. After joining, I quickly realized how supportive and education-focused the environment was. While I felt my schooling hadn’t fully prepared me, the team at Alder poured into me, offering guidance, encouragement, and a genuine understanding of where I was coming from.
Over time, I found my passion shifting slightly—from behind the chair to supporting guests in a different way. Now, I love working behind the scenes—helping with scheduling, listening to guests’ needs, and thoughtfully matching them with the right stylist. Being able to create a smooth, welcoming experience while still staying connected to people has been incredibly fulfilling. This role allows me to stay in an industry I love while also maintaining flexibility and balance for my family, which means everything to me.
When I’m not at the salon, you’ll usually find me spending time with my family, getting lost in a good video game, thrifting for hidden gems, experimenting with new coffee creations, baking something sweet, or hanging out with my cats and birds.
